I'm very sorry for the delay in this week's comic. I do assure you that it is for an extremely good reason. PAX! We didn't get home until Monday afternoon, and after working pretty much non stop (except a quick nap) we have this years' adventures at the Penny-Arcade Expo!

Needless to say I had a blast. I have to give props to Penny-Arcade for once again throwing the greatest event, where a gamer can just be a gamer. This year was more relaxed then last years for me. We were smart enough to get a rental car so we didn't have to wander aimlessly around Bellevue trying to find our way. I also got the chance to ask Gabe and Tycho a question, which I muttered about and couldn't reply too. I asked basically if they watched anime too. Which I got the reply that they are 'in' with the culture but not exactly up on it. So they asked me for some good anime to watch. My brain froze to a stand still as I tried to mumble anything that came to my mind. They didn't accept the Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Miyazaki answer because they already knew of them, killing all my thoughts.

The highlight of the Expo for me had to have been the chance to actually sit down and play Dungeons & Dragons Online and after 3 tries (two of which one of my party members game crashed) we finally got a beta invite. I say we because there were only 2 left between the 4 of us in our party, so we split them and Reese and myself will have to share...

The Omegathon finale was just as great as the previous years. Last year they played a rousing game of Pong, this year they busted out the Atari 7800 for a Combat assault. I never could imagine a room chalk full of people cheering their asses off for a 30 year old game. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Once again Penny-Arcade and all their enforcers... I tip my hat to you.

I really enjoy my trips to PAX. I went last year, which was also the first year that they held it and I intend to go every year. It's the only convention that I can bring myself to go to. I love anime and gaming, but I don't know that much about the artists or voice actors, so I feel I would be out of place in an anime convention. PAX, however, is about gaming. I'm no expert, but I've never felt out of place with a controler in my hand (except with an FPS on a console). This year was better than the last in so many ways. There were more people than last year, but everything was organized better so I felt it went smoother.

I had saved up for about half a year to get enough to cover my trip and various expenses. Now I am back at home and back to being broke. Normally, not a big deal, but I saw soom pretty cool games at PAX that I cannot wait to import. Ah, the life of a gamer.

One of the things about PAX that I think is truly fun (and annoying, yes, both at the same time) is the traveling. The airplanes and rental cars and hotel rooms. All of it is very entertaining to me. Even more so since I had Vance and George there with me. I really like traveling with my friends. It makes you appreciate the time apart so much more. I hope more people will come next year. If you are interested, start setting aside money ($600 should cover it) and send me an email at anytime (especially if you are a single female) and if I can stand you, your in.
